Sims Forever Modder Career

This is a rabbit hole career, with no chance cards or rewards as of yet. It will work with base game and/or all expansion packs. It is a single track career with 10 levels.

SIMS FOREVER MODDER CAREER

Do you have what it takes to get hired by the makers of Sims Forever? You will start at the very bottom of modding, learning the appropriate languages and gradually producing more and more content. If you impress the makers of Sims Forever enough, eventually you can make it onto their official team! Programming and Logic will be very important skills as will being focused and/or confident at work.

LEVEL 1 – PYTHON TRAINING
Customizing Sims Forever is going to require some training in coding! You will start by learning the basics of python. By the time you are finished, you will be able to run simple scripts without error.

LEVEL 2 – XML TRAINING
Now you understand the basics of python, its time to look at understanding XML. You will learn about instances and the different types of xml files needed to run mods in Sims Forever.

LEVEL 3 – CUSTOM TRAIT MODDER
With the very basics of both XML and Python under your belt, you are ready to begin low level modding. You still use other programs created to simplify the process, but you can now make your own custom traits and browse the web looking for requests to practice on.

LEVEL 4 – CUSTOM CAREERS MODDER
Having made many successful custom traits, you are now beginning to get a little following of sims that like what you do! Its time to move on to making custom careers. Again, you are still using programs made by others to simply the process. There are much more files to custom career than a custom trait, so you need to be focused and test each custom career thoroughly in game before you can release to your followers.

LEVEL 5 – CUSTOM ASPIRATION MODDER
Having churned out a few basic careers, no chance cards or rewards as of yet, you are now going to be making custom aspirations. There is no program to simplify the process, so you are now learning how to duplicate Sims Forever XML files, give them unique tuning ID’s and replacing coding to suit your mods.

Objectives: Programming 5, Logic 5, Video Gaming 5

LEVEL 6 – CUSTOM OVERWRITE MODDER
With a fair bit of experience under your belt and a better knowledge of how Sims Forever coding works, you are now confident enough to begin overwriting various parts of the game that you want to make perform differently. Traits, careers and aspirations are becoming a thing of the past, now you can tweak almost anything in the game. You are developing a large group of followers with the quality, much needed mods you are turning out.

LEVEL 7 – PURE SCRIPTING MODDER
Not happy with tweaking whats already there, you will now be creating completely new scripts and files for Sims Forever. You will need to be focused and pay very close attention to each line of coding, there is no overwriting here!

Objectives: Programming 7, Logic 7, Video Gaming 7

LEVEL 8 – PROGRAM AND UTILITY MODDER
You have made many popular scripting mods and now you want to make programs and utilities to help beginners also learn how to mod Sims Forever! You know the painstaking time it takes to code something from scratch, so if you can save another person from having to do the same, you will! Just because a sim isn’t skilled in coding, doesn’t mean they don’t have some great ideas!

Days of work: Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri

Objectives: Programming 8, Logic 8, Video Gaming 8

LEVEL 9 – HARDCORE MODDER
You are now so adept at making custom content for Sims Forever, you could probably make a whole game yourself! But you won’t do that, as you love the game. You now focus on creating unofficial game packs and stuff packs, giving Sims Forever a whole new game play. Your following is well into the thousands and most people know your username.

LEVEL 10 – HIRED BY SIMS FOREVER!
Your skills have not gone unnoticed by the makers of Sims Forever, they are so impressed with your ability to code their game, they have given you an official job with the company! Congratulations and keep working hard, there are still pay rises to get!
