The Sims 4 MOD: Weather Realism Overhaul

The Weather Realism Overhaul changes the way the game handles weather events and forecasts to make weather more realistic.
Features:

All weather events’ precipitation values, cloud cover settings, lightning and thunder chances have been tweaked.
i. There are now two main types of rain based on duration, rain showers and steady rain. Showers start almost instantly and go on for a few hours, however steady rain begins and ends slowly, reaching a peak around the middle of the event.
ii. Heavier rain/snow is now required to reach the heavy rain/snow in current conditions.
iii. Secret lots can now have weather, however it will almost always be mild.
iv. Thundersnow can now happen in freezing weather.

All forecasts’ names and the probabilities of events in forecasts changed, which means that forecasts will now have better names, sometimes may not be accurate (there might be rain on a sunny day or no rain in a rainy day) and are generally expanded for better variety. See the forecast list below to see what to expect in each weather type.
i. There are no weather forecasts called freezing or heatwave, but you will still be able to see freezing and heatwave weather events in regular cold dry and hot sunny days.
ii. Wind is no longer an independent weather event and can happen with any weather, which also means windy forecasts will no longer appear on the calendar.
iii. The transitions between events are smoother and slower.

All climates have been totally remade to match certain real-world locations (for some of them this means the climates in the region which inspired the city, or sometimes for weather events that would suit that world’s theme.) This means that there will be a lot less snow in winter in many worlds, and there may be none for many worlds in most years if you use 7 Day Seasons. See the climate list below for what to expect with individual worlds.

• Rain puddles will now stay on the ground for a day or two after the rain has finished.

Lightning is less likely to create metals and less likely to hit sims.

• Autonomy penalties are now lower for lighter rain/snow.

• Mud puddles and snow drifts no longer have any limit but are less likely to spawn.

Warm is now also considered ‘hot weather’ which means Sims will change into their hot weather outfits.

Reaching high and max snow accumulations now requires more snow, which means it is not as easy to reach a snow level where snow specific activities are unlocked.

Known issues:
• Very rarely, certain transitions may cause weather events in certain temperatures where they are unlikely to happen (such as rain in freezing), snow in cold weather however is intended.

• When there is snow accumulation and it rains, the snow will melt immediately. (This is a problem present in the unmodded game, however with the changes this mod brings, it is more likely to happen.)

• Another problem that happens in the base game that may happen more often is that cloudy weather may interfere with dry lightning weather and cause it not to appear in current conditions.

Forecast List:

Sunny: Clear skies, occasionally partly cloudy

Partly Cloudy: Most likely to be partly cloudy, but a fair chance for both cloudy and sunny weather.

Cloudy: Cloudy, occasional rain/snow or partly cloudy weather possible.

Light Rain/Snow: Steady light precipitation.

Rain/Snow: Equal chance of light and heavy precipitation.

Heavy Rain/Snow: Steady heavy precipitation.

Rain and Thunderstorms: Steady heavy rain with occasional thunderstorms.

Thunderstorms: Very heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Showers: Occasional heavy precipitation.

Blizzard: Very heavy snow.

Note that any weather can happen with any forecast and these are only the most probable outcomes.

Conflicts:

The mod will conflict with any mod that changes weather events, forecasts, forecast lists for worlds, general weather tuning or lightning.

All files modified:

Because of the change in forecast names, some files do not have their default names.
