As the above introduction states, the career is based on the idea that the Politics career from City Living is essentially a powerless sham, created to appease the masses, while the true work of government takes place in SimCity&#8217;s Palace.<\/p>\n<p>The career has a main branch with ten levels which focuses on the legislative government, followed by two branches, the Senate (in which your Sim becomes a member of the senatorial aristocracy of SimNation) and the Palatial Aristocracy (a sort of constitutional shadow government based on the court of the Byzantine Empire).<\/p>\n<p>Here are the ranks for the main branch:<\/p>\n<div class=\"spoiler\">\n<input type=\"button\" class=\"button\" onclick=\"showSpoiler(this);\" value=\"Contains Spoiler\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"content\" style=\"display:none\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin:5px 20px 5px 20px; \">\n<div class=\"smallfont\" style=\"margin-bottom:2px\">Quote:<\/p>\n<table cellpadding=\"6\" cellspacing=\"0\" border=\"0\" width=\"100%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"alt2\" style=\"border:1px inset\">\n1. <b>Horearios<\/b> &#8211; (Mon; Tue; Sat; Sun) &#8211; 16\u00a7\/h &#8211; 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM<br \/>\nYou are in charge of managing the food distribution across local grocery shops. Not exactly the most prestigious job, but a good place to start practicing your management skills.<\/p>\n<p>2. <b>Junior Secretary<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur) &#8211; 26\u00a7\/h &#8211; 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 1 Charisma, 1 Logic<br \/>\nYour work caught the eye of one of the minor secretaries of SimNation, and you have been asked to become his new Junior Secretary. This type of work demands your full concentration, and the sharp claws of the bureaucracy are beginning to take hold of you.<\/p>\n<p>3. <b>Notarius<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 39\u00a7\/h &#8211; 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 2 Charisma, 2 Logic<br \/>\nUnder the secretary, you have been assigned to the position of Notarius, drafting documents for your superior. Keep up the good work, and perhaps someone from the higher ranks may notice you.<\/p>\n<p>4. <b>Kephale<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 39\u00a7\/h &#8211; 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 2 Charisma, 3 Logic<br \/>\nYour work was indeed noticed by a high official, and due to a complicated set of events, you were basically kicked to the position of Kephale, quite above that of your former employer. You are now the governor of your town, yet independent from the local mayor, and directly above you is the provincial governor. From now on, it would be a good idea for you to enhance your charisma skill, as it will certainly help your ascension.<\/p>\n<p>5. <b>Archon of the Mint<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 65\u00a7\/h &#8211; 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 4 Charisma, 3 Logic<br \/>\nYou have as your main responsibility the minting of currency for all of SimNation. A rather prestigious and important position, but not exactly the highest available in this field of work.<\/p>\n<p>6. <b>Chartulary of the Wardrobe<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 91\u00a7\/h &#8211; 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 5 Charisma, 4 Logic<br \/>\nYou now are the chief magistrate of the Public Wardrobe, one of the major fiscal departments of SimNation. An extensive bureaucracy exists below you, but you have to sharpen your skills if you wish to remain on this office, and also if you want the possibility of ascension to an higher rank to be possible.<\/p>\n<p>7. <b>First Secretary<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 127\u00a7\/h &#8211; 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 6 Charisma, 5 Logic<br \/>\nYou are now the head of the chancery of SimNation, commanding the class of secretaries which you were once part of. Much like the Chartulary of the Wardrobe, you have an extensive team under your command, and above you are only the Logothetes.<\/p>\n<p>8. <b>General Logothete<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 178\u00a7\/h &#8211; 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 8 Charisma, 7 Logic<br \/>\nYou are the leader of the Ministry of Finance, holding one of the highest positions available in the administration of SimNation. Keep up your good work, and make sure that your fellow Logothetes don\u2019t try to do anything that may cause your premature unemployment.<\/p>\n<p>9. <b>Logothete of the Drome<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 231\u00a7\/h &#8211; 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 9 Charisma, Logic 8<br \/>\nAs the Logothete of the Drome, you are now the head of the Ministry of Diplomacy and Public Post, one of the most important ministries in all of SimNation, having above you only the Grand Logothete. Perhaps with enough hard work and a high level of competence, you may be appointed by the Senate to that position.<\/p>\n<p>10. <b>Grand Logothete<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 340\u00a7\/h &#8211; 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 10 Charisma, 10 Logic<br \/>\nThe executive leader of SimNation has granted you the highest position available in the legislative branch of the government. As the head of government of SimNation, you have the power to dismiss and appoint new Logothetes and other positions below yours. You have been given the title of \u201cpresident of the Senate\u201d, but you are not \u201cthe\u201d President of the Senate. Is that too confusing? Having been elected by your peers to this position is good and prestigious, but until the term of the one above you finally ends, you are nothing more than a mere symbolic figure. Still, keep sharpening your skills, because you never know when it is time for you to assume the supreme leadership.<\/p>\n<p>5. <b>Protoproedros<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 510\u00a7\/h &#8211; 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM<br \/>\nYou are the First President, the effective leader of the Senate of SimNation. Now you hold this title as well, reflecting your growing power and importance in SimNation.<\/p>\n<p>5. <b>Sebastokrator<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 330\u00a7\/h &#8211; 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 7 Mischief<br \/>\nYou have been recognised as a &#8220;venerable ruler&#8221;, and now rank above all of your fellow nobles as their theoretical leader.<\/p>\n<p>6. <b>Despot<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 440\u00a7\/h &#8211; 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM &#8211; Objectives -> 10 Mischief<br \/>\nThe position of Despot was created in order for SimNation to have a strong leader with considerable centralized power. A title and rank roughly equivalent to &#8220;king&#8221;, you now hold near absolute power in the country.<\/p>\n<p>7. <b>Autocrat<\/b> (Mon; Tue; Wed; Thur; Fri) &#8211; 580\u00a7\/h &#8211; 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM<br \/>\nOnce reserved for the senior emperors of the late Roman Empire, the title of Autocrat has been adapted for the governmental structure of SimNation. And you, either by political plays or simply familial connections, now hold a position which is synonymous with &#8220;emperor&#8221;, and hold absolute power in SimNation. Keep and eye on the nobles and the Senate, as your position is the most coveted of all, and there are many who would do anything to take it for their own.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>\nAnd for those that wish to know, here&#8217;s a list explaining what these ranks were in real-life. Its role as the chief minister of the emperor eventually came to be usurped by the office of mezazon (intermediary).<\/p>\n<p><u>Senate:<\/u><br \/>\n*<b>Illustrious One<\/b> &#8211; adapted from &#8220;illustrious man&#8221;, the title was once used to describe the high ranks of the senates of Rome and Constantinople, but eventually came to refer to all active members of the Senate.<br \/>\n*<b>Magnificent One<\/b> &#8211; adapted the role from a title given to the comites (counts), which was &#8220;megaloprepestatos&#8221; (most magnificent).<br \/>\n*<b>Most Glorious One<\/b> &#8211; adapted from &#8220;most glorious&#8221;, which was the highest rank available in the senatorial aristocracy of the empire in the 6th century and was restricted to the highest functionaries of the state.<br \/>\n*<b>Proedros<\/b> &#8211; translated as &#8220;president&#8221;, this was a senior title in the Byzantine court in the 10th to 12th centuries. Originally restricted to eunuchs, the holder of the title was also the president of the Senate.<br \/>\n*<b>Protoproedros<\/b> &#8211; translated as &#8220;first president&#8221;, the title was created after Proedros was opened to non-eunuchs in order to distinguish the most senior amongst its holders.<\/p>\n<p><u>Palatial Aristocracy:<\/u><br \/>\n*<b>Nobilissimus <\/b>&#8211; translated as &#8220;most noble&#8221;, this title originated as an epithet to the title of Caesar, whose holder was the Roman\/Byzantine Emperor&#8217;s heir-apparent during the late antiquity. It became a separate dignity during the reign of Constantine I, and after the late 11th century it was given to senior army commanders.<br \/>\n*<b>Protonobilissimus <\/b>&#8211; translated as &#8220;first most noble&#8221;, it was created due to the diluted status of the &#8220;nobilissimus&#8221; title. Eventually it too started to decline and was replaced by the augmented form &#8220;pr\u014dton\u014dbelissimohypertatos&#8221;.<br \/>\n*<b>Kaisar <\/b>&#8211; the Greek form of Caesar, it was originally used to designate a subordinate co-emperor or a heir apparent. It eventually became a dignity awarded by the emperor to high-ranked and distinguished officials and became third in importance after the creation of the title &#8220;sebastokrat\u014dr&#8221; by Alexios I, and fourth after Manuel I created the title &#8220;despot&#8221;. By this period, the title was no longer used to designate a co-emperor or the heir.<br \/>\n*<b>Sebastokrator <\/b>&#8211; translated as &#8220;venerable ruler&#8221;, the title was created by emperor Alexios I Komnenos and awarded to his brother Isaakios. It was in essence meaningless and signified a close relationship with the Emperor, but was at its creation the second most important title in the empire, only below that of Emperor. It became the third after the creation of &#8220;despot&#8221;.<br \/>\n*<b>Despot <\/b>&#8211; originally used by emperors since the time of Justinian I, it was made into a separate title by Manuel I Komnenos, and the highest ranked after the emperor. The first despot was Bela III of Hungary and meant that Hungary was considered as a tributary state of the empire.
